In 2004, Duka Gartner, from Toronto, and her family made two donations, one for an ultrasound unit and another for medical supplies, to the Kovin Primary Health Centre. These donations were made in memory of her sister Mira Avromov who had worked at the Centre for 30 Years as a lab technician.
In 2004 a pilot program entitled, “A Small Family Home” for Children without Parental Care was opened. HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation and various Ministries in Serbia initiated this innovative program and the funding for the renovation of the small farmhouse came from Canadian donors, Margaret and Lee Lau of Toronto.
