Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine brought help to Topola and neighboring villages today, one of heaviest hit areas by flood in Serbia, and paid respect to the deceased firefighter Dejan Lazarevic at his family home and extended condolences to his wife and children.

After arriving in Topola, TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine met with Mr Dragan Jovanovic, the Mayor of Topola and members of emergency committee in this city, who briefed them about the very difficult situation in this municipality.

HRH Crown Prince Alexander II was deeply concerned by the range of devastation he witnessed on his way to Topola, and expressed his worries talking to Mayor of Topola and citizens: “On behalf of my family, I extend our deepest condolences to the families of victims who lost their lives in the floods. My family and I will make sure that in this difficult situation we help all citizens of Serbia. I appealed to all members and supporters of the Kingdom of Serbia Association, which is working under my patronage. I asked them put themselves at the disposal of the Department of Emergency Situations and provide maximum support and assistance to the citizens in distress. We have to work together to overcome the difficulties that have overwhelmed many of our citizens. Please follow the instructions and orders of the authorities in charge, because your lives are most important, and each material loss we can compensate by joint effort and work”, said the Crown Prince.

Their Royal Highnesses together with Mayor Dragan Jovanovic visited then a village of Natalinci where 30 houses were flooded and brought wardrobe for children there.

They visited the Family of the late fire-fighter, Dejan Lazarevic and extended their condolences to his widow and son and daughter.

Their Royal Highnesses also went to the village of Blaznava where the bridge over the Jasenica River collapsed. The Royal Couple met with villagers and encouraged them to follow instruction of authorities and keep themselves and their families out of harm, because the most important thing at the moment is to save lives and show solidarity to those less fortunate.

After that Their Royal Highnesses visited the Monastery Nikolje which was completely cut off after the floods, but today the road has been re-opened.
